Life with fibromyalgia can be tough. It can be downright debilitating at times. On day 13 of a very wicked fibro flare I finally started feeling human again. Not quite 100% mind you, but it appears I am finally on the downside of this one.

I have had this quote in my office for a few weeks now and just haven’t found the time/energy/motivation to write anything. After 100+ days of quarantine, one cancelled vacation, getting birthday wishes from my husband on the wrong day, and rediscovering hobbies that make me happy, I have definitely discovered that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. Sometimes you just have to make your own happiness and joy.
Hard to believe it’s been a month since we have been under “stay at home” orders here in Texas. I thankfully have been working the entire time, mostly at home. And no cleaning closets or planting flowers for me. The shorter commute seems to have translated into longer work days. Yikes!
But on the bright side, I am eating well, taking frequent walks, spending more time with my family cooking, baking, and doing puzzles. And I am not dealing with the stress of commuting!
I heard this song that I love while I was walking the other day. The lyrics inspired my board this week… Everyone needs help sometimes…even the moon!
April is Stress Awareness Month. Is it a coincidence that it coincides with one of the major stressors in American’s lives? (Tax Day) We all face every day stressors such as our commute, our jobs, paying bills, raising kids. But then there are those other things that compound and have longer lasting effects on you. Perhaps you have finals coming up or a work deadline or family troubles or maybe you’re battling a chronic condition or illness. Or perhaps you have a combination of many stressors in your life.
Stress can be positive – it’s what activates your fight or flight mechanism, or helps you to meet a deadline – or negative. It’s the negative stress that has a detrimental impact on your health and can show up in many ways – over/under eating, not sleeping, acne, physical ailments like stomach or heart issues, and flares of chronic conditions like fibromyalgia. Learning to cope with these burdens so that they don’t build up can make a huge difference in your health.
It has been linked to a wide range of health issues, including mood, sleep, and appetite problems — and yes, even heart disease.
