Asking people how they are just might make the difference in their day.
I wanted to post this earlier today, but as has been the case with me lately, life just got in the way today. But even though today has been designated as “World Hello Day,” it’s a concept that we should embrace daily.
Say hello to friends and strangers. Check on an elderly neighbor that lives alone. Smile at the lady checking you out at the grocery store. Take a minute to see how someone else is doing. Showing compassion and empathy will make our world a better place. Continue reading “World Hello Day”
The day is not quite over yet, so in the spirit of World Hello Day I wanted to write a quick post. This is the 44th annual observance of this day that is simply designed for you to greet ten people for peace. Having done that already in person today, I wanted to try to reach at least 10 people out in the blogosphere. I thought I would post 10 interesting things about me, in hopes of getting (at least) 10 likes. So here goes:
I have been to 12 countries, 20 islands, seen 7 volcanoes, and visited *most* of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
I have caught a shark while deep sea fishing.
I was helped on stage by Peter Gabriel at one of his concerts.
I sometimes eat dessert first.
I like fresh peaches, but not peach flavored anything. On the contrary, I don’t like real cherries, but will eat cherry flavored Starbursts. (As a kid, I used to eat my grandmother’s Luden cherry cough drops like candy!)
I only have 11 sets of ribs.
I swam with sea turtles while snorkeling in Hawaii.
I have been bungee jumping.
I have been in a hot air balloon.
I took a picture of an eclipse through a welder’s hood a few years ago that was tweeted by USA Today – and I came across it pinned the other day on someone’s board on Pinterest. (OK, that’s probably more silly than interesting!)
That’s 10 quick things about me. Leave me a comment and tell me something interesting about you! And let’s keep the communication going.
This is my very first post. I have been toying with this idea of blogging for quite some time now, but really haven’t found a focus. I have a variety of interests, but really don’t have enough to say to devote an entire blog to any one of them. So this blog is going to likely be a random collection of things for now, while I find my way.
A bit about me and some of the things you may see here on my blog. I am married to an awesome and ever patient husband. We have two kids who I adore and two dogs who are a bit crazy. I love beauty and fashion, but there are so many awesome bloggers out there that I follow that have far better taste than I have. My family and I love to travel, and try to take one or two big trips a year. I love to eat healthy and take care of myself, as I suffer from fibromyalgia and control it with healthy habits. I work in technology and government, and love to read the insights from leadership gurus such as John Maxwell, Jack Welch, and Dr. John Izzo. I try to learn something new everyday!
