This quote took on a whole new meaning to me when my father quit chemo treatments two months ago to enter hospice care. While we all have an expiration date and none of us are promised a tomorrow, being faced with that reality every day is a struggle for the patient and their loved ones.
Making the best of the days we have left on this earth is important. Having a rich life filled with love and happiness, no matter how short, is so much better than having a long life that is lonely. I have been making frequent trips to visit my parents and call just about daily to say hi, see how they are, and tell them I love them.

So I would just like to remind everyone to hug your loved ones, and take every opportunity you can to be kind, share a laugh, and tell people how you truly feel. Positivity and love will outshine negativity every time. So adopt a positive outlook, and make your days count!
February is traditionally the month we celebrate the heart, be it Valentines Day with candy hearts, Go Red for Women, or the American Heart Month. It also happens to be the month of my wedding anniversary, so hearts and celebrations abound for me!
My mother recently suffered a stroke, as a result of a poor-functioning heart. So in honor of mom, I wanted to do something different this month. Heart Disease is responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in the U. S., making it the number one cause. As February is the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month, I wanted to share 10 tips to inspire you to know the signs and to keep your heart healthy.

Today is my one year Blogiversary! It’s also World Kindness Day. So in the spirit of Kindness Day, I wanted to share a story I read from On the Road with Steve Hartman about Chris Rosati who was suffering from ALS. Have you heard of the butterfly effect? It’s this idea that “a single butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the globe can, in theory, start a hurricane on the other.” So Chris applied this theory to kindness and children, thinking it only takes a single act of kindness to start a chain reaction. So if you want a little more inspiration to start your own chain reaction or spread a little kindness in the world, go read the story of Chris Rosati and his butterfly effect. It will make your day.

It happens to be Employee Appreciation week at my work this week, and today’s theme is “Thank You Thursday.” I will be visiting a few departments that I interact with to bring them baskets of healthy snacks. As we can never have too much kindness in this world, please consider doing your own Random Act of Kindness this week.
