10 Things to Inspire You This Month

Life should be about having experiences and building memories.

Is it just me or is anyone else really over the pressure that has been put on us to buy more, spend more, decorate more each year for the holidays? This year I did put up one large tree and four smaller ones and decorate the house, but shopping for presents has been sketchy. Baking? Not yet. I do plan to cook a nice holiday meal for our family to enjoy and finally managed to get a few presents under the tree. But this year for us has been all about spending time with my family.

Life should be more about having experiences and building memories than about whether or not someone got the latest new gadget for Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or Easter or birthdays. So go hug your family, enjoy a nice meal together, tell stories, play a game, or watch a movie and just enjoy being together.

World Hello Day

Asking people how they are just might make the difference in their day.

I wanted to post this earlier today, but as has been the case with me lately, life just got in the way today. But even though today has been designated as “World Hello Day,” it’s a concept that we should embrace daily.

Say hello to friends and strangers. Check on an elderly neighbor that lives alone. Smile at the lady checking you out at the grocery store. Take a minute to see how someone else is doing. Showing compassion and empathy will make our world a better place. Continue reading “World Hello Day”

Fall Round-Up

The crisp fall air is here and we are facing our first frost here in Texas with possible snow flurries. It’s “pumpkin-everything” season still, yet I asked my boys to get the tree and Christmas decorations down from the attic this weekend. I have the house decorated for fall and Thanksgiving, but am thinking ahead and planning my schedule for when the boys are gone hunting Thanksgiving week.img_6206

For something different, I wanted to do a “round-up” of some of my posts these past few months, in case you missed something. Enjoy! Continue reading “Fall Round-Up”

“It’s in the chasing of the idea that we catch it.”

As it is Veteran’s Day, I wanted to extend my gratitude to those serving or who have served our country. Men and women who are brave enough to put their lives in harms way, to protect and defend our country and the principles upon which it was built. These men and women are heroes in my book, and like those emergency responders who also lay down their lives for others; these everyday heroes deserve our utmost respect and gratitude.

10 Things to Inspire You This Month

There is such beauty surrounding us, we just have to look for it.

October is the trigger for fall, cooler weather, changing leaves, all things pumpkin, #breastcancerawareness, #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek, cybersecurity awareness (#CyberAware), and of course, “Treat Yo’self” Day. All things near and dear to my ❤ ! Loving the cooler temps and glad to get a break from the rain here in Texas. Such a great way to go into fall!

Yes, the month is nearly over. I have struggled with finishing this post due to business travel, fibromyalgia, a busy work schedule, and life in general that have all drawn my energy and focus elsewhere. I have my moments of self-doubt, but I try to extend myself some grace and do what I can.  Continue reading “10 Things to Inspire You This Month”

Enjoy stories of happiness, creativity, getting outside, and a great American hero.

Are you happy? Do you take time out of your day or week to just waste time? When was the last time you walked barefoot in the grass or let your inner child be free?

For September, I wanted to share stories about happiness, creativity, getting outside, and a great American hero. And since it’s National Yoga Month, I have included a video from my favorite yogi for you to enjoy. I hope these stories and videos give you pause to think, and I hope you enjoy reading or watching them as much as I enjoyed finding them. Continue reading “10 Things to Inspire You this Month”

I’m Possible

Last semester when my daughter was having a rough time, I started texting her on Monday mornings a little motivational quote or picture, just to start her Monday off on the right foot. So in that vein, here’s a little Monday motivation for the week, for those going back to school, starting a new job or project, or those facing some other challenge.
