When I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia almost 20 years ago, it wasn’t a well known or understood condition. Twenty years later and it’s still not well understood by the medical community, but I would say it is more well known these days thanks to high profile people with fibromyalgia, like Lady Gaga, Morgan Freeman, and Lena Dunham, among others.

Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, and sleep issues. I typically wake up with morning stiffness that can be felt the second my feet hit the floor. And some days I often think the list of what doesn’t hurt is shorter than the list that does.
Despite the daily fatigue and pain, I always try to focus on the positive rather than the negative. I don’t like to dwell on my condition, and prefer to try to inspire others by actions, no matter how small those actions are (like posting inspirational quotes!).

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1993. Had never heard of the word or what the health issue was then. I have learned a lot over these 25+ years since. I went to 4 doctors at that time and they all said the same thing. I did not tell them anything about having been told I had it by another doctor. I have gone on to see a few other specialist since and again –fibromyalgia. There are always new symptoms and I do not know. I do not want to self diagnose.
Each person is different with this health issue. It is something that can not really be seen by others.
I try not to make a big deal about it. One because I have also had a DVT since then and that was frightening. I have chronic vein insuffinecy as a result of that. There are other things that come into play. My father (who passed two yrs ago) stated that each morning you are able to wake up accept it as a gift. Some gifts you might not understand why but it is yours to find out. I took that to mean somedays will be harder than others but each day is a gift.
Wishing you and yours safety and wellness at this time.

Yes one is my most troubling problems is when something new comes up and you have to wonder if it’s associated with fibromyalgia or not. And then you don’t know if you should go to the doctor or not. I agree some days are definitely harder than others, but it’s important to stay positive. It’s great that you look at each day as a gift! Stay safe and healthy as well! 💜

I was thinking of the answer to the question – ask me what doesn’t hurt – and I realised I can’t think of anything if toenails don’t count 😂You do a wonderful job of raising awareness, providing thoughts and inspiration and support, spreading the positivity and love. You’re a huge asset to the blogging world and we’re lucky to have you! ♥
